Where’s the Summer Reading Game?
Summer Adventure is the reimagined Summer Reading Game! We’re calling it Summer Adventure because we have a lot of fun activities for you to do in addition to reading. Don’t worry, reading still has a huge role in our Summer Adventure!

What is A World of Stories?
This summer’s theme is A World of Stories. It's all about connecting to each other through stories, because we all have stories to tell, no matter how young or old we are. This summer, let’s explore new and creative ways to share our stories while also learning about others’ stories through listening, watching, and of course—reading!

We’re so glad you’ve joined us! Here is some important information about how to take part in the adventure.

Pick up an Adventure Guide activity booklet (and sticker!) at any open library location starting today, June 15. You can also catch us at any Mobile Library stop and grab and go meal areas at San Lorenzo and Union City Libraries. You can also print one out yourself on our Summer Adventure webpage.
- Use your creativity and sense of adventure to complete activities. You can interpret, present, and create them in your own way! These activities can be adapted for all abilities and there are no wrong answers.
- Share your story inspired by an activity from the Adventure Guide. Complete the submission form and turn it in online, by mail, or by dropping it into the A World of Stories box at any open library location.
- Submit your first activity and head to your preferred library location for a book gift! You will also be entered for the biweekly drawing!
- More submissions = more chances. Submit more activities to gain additional entries into the biweekly drawing. Prize drawings will occur on the following Tuesdays: June 29, July 13, July 27, August 10, and August 17. You will be contacted by a staff member if you win a prize. Keep a lookout!
About Prizes...
We have a lot of exciting prizes that you might win in the biweekly drawings. Without spoiling too much of the surprise, you might win a dinosaur cape, paint set, board game, bubble tea kit, spice kit, a ukulele, or something else! Our prizes are sourced from small, local businesses all over Alameda County. Keep an eye on this blog—we'll have a special post about prizes soon.
