Blog written by the Corazón: Latiné Advocacy Employee Resource Group
Día is short for Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros, which means Children’s Day/Book Day.
Día also comes from Día del Niño, a special holiday in many Latin American countries that honors children with games, activities, and joyful celebrations.
In 1997, libraries across the Southwest began to celebrate Día to honor children and books. Today, it highlights different cultures, languages, and families. It also shows how important reading and learning are for young children.
