The Castro Valley Friends of the Library are a volunteer organization of people interested in books and libraries and committed to supporting the Castro Valley Library.
The Friends of the Library Bookstore is currently the only bookstore in Castro Valley. The bookstore contains over 2500 almost new and used books, audio books, CDs, and DVDs with a constant turnover of the inventory. Some books are put in storage to be used in our three weekend sales each year in the Canyon and Chabot rooms at the Castro Valley Library. Remaining books are donated to non-profit organizations and programs throughout Alameda County.
All proceeds from the bookstore and periodic book sales are used to benefit the Library, supporting a wide variety of programs for all ages.
Your donated books and magazines are the primary source of income for the Friends of the Castro Valley Library. They accept book donations at the bookstore during open hours. Please do not bring donations during the last 30 minutes the store is open. Please contact the Friends directly for any large donations and visit their website for donation criteria.
The Friends are always looking for volunteers! Please call 733-3285 or send an email to Friends.CVL@gmail.com for more information.
