Do you live in Alameda County*? Are you 13 to 18 years old? Would you like to represent Alameda County as its 2022 Youth Poet Laureate and have your poems included in a national anthology?
Applications are now open for the 2022 Alameda County Youth Poet Laureate Competition. You could be the young poet we are looking for!
Previous Laureates around the country have gone on to earn the Regional and National Youth Poet Laureate titles through Urban Word, our sponsoring organization. We need youth voices and visions to strengthen our community - in short, we need your poetry!
When selecting your work for the application, consider Content, Craft, and Voice, the three categories used to evaluate all submitted poems.
*Residents of Oakland: please talk to our friends at the Oakland Youth Poet Laureate competition.
If you have any questions, please reach out! We are at ypl@aclibrary.org.
