Tune into the Future: Updates to Our Music Collection

We're excited to share some important news with you as we adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of music. Over the years, we've been your trusted source for music, offering everything from records to cassettes and, most recently, CDs. However, as music consumption habits continue to shift, we're making some changes to better align with your needs. We're bidding farewell to our Music CD collection in light of the significant decline in sales, production, and usage in recent years. The entire Music CD collection will be removed from our libraries at the beginning of January 2024.

Rest assured, we're not leaving your musical interests behind. Instead, we're focusing on the current musical landscape, which is dominated by streaming. You can explore a world of music tailored to your tastes through our streaming services, including hoopla and the Naxos Music Library. But for those who still prefer the tactile experience of CDs, we've got you covered. You can continue enjoying your favorite music by requesting CDs through our Link+ system, which searches libraries across California to deliver them right to your home library. Whether you're exploring the latest hits or revisiting timeless classics, the Alameda County Library remains your go-to destination for musical discovery.

We welcome your comments about this change to our music CD collection. We value the privacy of our library members and ask that you do not include your library card number in your comment
