Starting on January 1, 2026, you will have 5 hoopla borrows each month instead of 8. This change helps us keep hoopla available to everyone while managing rising costs.
Make the Most of Your 5 Borrows
- Start with a BingePass: One borrow gives you 7 days of access to a full collection. This includes magazines, games, The Great Courses, Curiosity Stream, Hallmark+, and many options for kids and families.
- Save Items for Later: Add items to your favorites so you can check them out when your borrows reset at the start of each month.
- Use Our Other Apps Too: Some titles are available in Palace or Libby. This helps you save your hoopla borrows for items that are only in hoopla.
Audiobook Options
If you listen to audiobooks often, these services can help you get more without using your hoopla borrows:
- Palace Project : Palace includes some bestsellers and audiobooks with low or no holds. You you won't always find the same titles in hoopla. Plus, they've titles from Audible Studios.
- Libby: Libby has thousands of audiobooks. Some titles are always available, so you can listen right away without using a hoopla borrow. You can explore featured and available titles on the What's Available page.
- LibriVox: LibriVox is a free service with thousands of classic audiobooks in the public domain. You can listen with no holds, no waits, and no limits. It's a good way to keep listening without using your hoopla borrows.
- Check All Three: If you do not see a title in one service, you may find it in Palace, Libby, or LibriVox.
Why This Change Is Happening
More people are using hoopla each year, which increases our overall cost. Lowering the monthly limit from 8 to 5 helps us keep hoopla in our collection and support access for our whole community.
