“Every Month Is Pride Month” Series at San Lorenzo Library

Monthly Events Aimed at Supporting County’s LGBTQ+ Community Following June Incident

In partnership with Alameda County Supervisor Dave Brown (District 3), we are excited to announce, “Every Month is Pride Month,” a monthly event series at the San Lorenzo Library that kicked off with an opening ceremony and full day of Pride-themed programming on July 27!

This event series is intended to reaffirm the County’s support for and inclusiveness of LGBTQ+ communities following an incident at the San Lorenzo Library. On June 11 during the Library’s Drag Queen Story Hour, members of a local chapter of the Proud Boys entered the Library and shouted homophobic and transphobic slurs at the event’s performer while families and children were in attendance.

The “Every Month is Pride Month” series is intended to demonstrate community resolve, show that Alameda County stands with its LGBTQ+ communities, and prove that the County will not be intimidated by racism or bigotry. This series is sponsored by Alameda County District 3 Supervisor Dave Brown.

Join AC Library in celebrating Pride and our LGBTQ+ communities. Please check our Events page for upcoming monthly events.
