The Alameda County Library provides library services to a blend of culturally and ethnically diverse communities through its ten community and neighborhood libraries in the cities of Albany, Dublin, Fremont, Newark and Union City and the unincorporated communities of Castro Valley and San Lorenzo. Outreach services are provided through the Bookmobile, the Literacy Program, the Senior Outreach Program, and the County’s juvenile detention facilities and jails.
The Library offers a diversity of career path in various fields, including librarianship, customer service, information technology, library administration, finance/accounting, and many more.
As a department of Alameda County, the Library follows civil service procedures for hiring. This means that when a position is announced as open, the County’s Human Resource Services Department solicits applications, screens applicants, and creates the list of eligible candidates for hire. Once an eligible list is created, the Library will conduct hiring interviews.
